About us

Welcome to the Nano-Photochemistry and its Environmental Applications Laboratory (NPEL) at the Nanotechnology Department of the Environmental Studies and Research Institute, University of Sadat City, Egypt.

At NPEL, we are dedicated to pioneering research in nano-photochemistry and its applications in environmental sustainability. Our laboratory, generously funded by The Science, Technology & Innovation Funding Authority (STDF), serves as a hub for groundbreaking research and innovation.

Our Focus Areas:

1. Green Synthesis of Novel Nanomaterials:** We specialize in the eco-friendly and rapid synthesis of a wide range of novel nanomaterials with diverse applications.

2. PhotocatalysisExploring the potential of photocatalytic processes in environmental remediation and energy conversion.

3. Self-cleaning Materials:** Developing innovative materials with self-cleaning properties for various applications.

4. Water Remediation:** Investigating advanced nanotechnological solutions for water purification and treatment.

5. Photobiogas: Developing efficient methods for photobiogas production from organic pollutants using plasmonic nanomaterials.

6. Solar Energy Applications:** Researching and implementing nanotechnology-driven solutions for solar energy harvesting and utilization, including solar cells.

7. Biomedical Applications:** Exploring the use of nanomaterials in biomedical fields for applications such as drug delivery and diagnostics.

Our Objectives:-

  •  Foster excellence in nano-photochemistry research within the University of Sadat City.
  • Provide a platform for postgraduate students and young researchers to conduct innovative research.
  • Offer scientific services to researchers within and outside the university, as well as industrial partners.
  •  Facilitate meaningful collaborations between academia and industry to address pressing environmental challenges.

Infrastructure and Collaborations:

Our laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and instruments, including BET analyzers, UV-Vis diffuse reflectance, microwave synthesis equipment, and more. We also have ongoing collaborations with prestigious national and international institutions to advance our research efforts.
